Description

Formosa Fancy Oolong is a captivating tea, renowned for its elegant appearance and exquisite taste. The term “Oolong” itself, meaning “black dragon,” is a poetic nod to the unique production process that transforms the tea leaves into a masterpiece. This semi-fermented tea is a testament to the artistry of Taiwanese tea makers, who carefully coax the leaves into a state of partial oxidation, resulting in a complex and nuanced brew. Oolong teas, including Formosa Fancy, are primarily cultivated in Taiwan, a region renowned for its ideal climate and rich soil. The island’s diverse topography and microclimates give rise to a wide range of oolong varieties, each with its own distinct characteristics.

A hallmark of Formosa Fancy Oolong is its beautiful, open leaf, meticulously processed to preserve its delicate structure. The numerous silvery-white tips, known as “pekoe,” are particularly prized. These unfermented leaf tips enhance the tea’s visual appeal and contribute to its remarkable tenderness and sweetness.

Formosa Fancy Oolong is considered a higher-quality tea within the oolong category. The careful selection of premium tea leaves, combined with meticulous processing techniques, results in a tea that is both visually stunning and exceptionally flavorful. The delicate balance of oxidation imparts a unique aroma and taste profile, often described as floral, fruity, and slightly malty.
